Who requires a visa for travelling to Norway (Oslo)?

You may not need a visa to travel to Norway if:

  • You are a citizen of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), or Schengen Area.
You may enter Norway freely using a valid passport or national ID card.
  • You come from a visa-exempt country (for example: the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and many others), and your stay does not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or family visits.

Travellers from countries that are not visa-exempt must apply for a Schengen Visitor Visa (Type C) before travelling to Norway or any other Schengen country.

To verify whether you personally need a visa, please check the official website of the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) or contact your nearest Norwegian embassy or consulate. Requirements vary by nationality.
